President of the Transitional Sovereign Council First Lieutenant General Abdul-Fattah Al Burhan held in Juba, capital of South Sudan, Monday a series of important meetings on the sidelines of the inaugural session of peace talks between the Sudanese Government and the armed movements.
Al Burhan held a meeting with President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit at the Freedom Hall in Juba Monday evening.
The meeting tackled means of making the peace talks between the Sudanese parties, which are held under the auspices of the government of South Sudan, a success.
Al Burhan affirmed that the government’s delegation has come to reach a comprehensive peace agreement with the armed movements.
The President of the Sovereign Council extended thanks of the Sudanese Government and people to President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the government and people of South Sudan for their keenness on realization of peace and stability in Sudan.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit, on his part, affirmed the importance of peace for realizing stability and development in the two countries.
Meanwhile, Al Burhan also met with Chairman of SPLM-N Abdel-Aziz Al Helu.
Al Burhan discussed with the leaderships of the Revolutionary Front the peace process and the need to reach a comprehensive peace agreement.
In the meantime, Al Burhan affirmed during a meeting with the government’s negotiating delegation in Juba shortly before the inaugural session of the negotiations keenness of the government on making the peace talks a success; explaining that the government’s delegation enters in the negations to come out with a comprehensive peace agreement that ends the war in the country.
The aim of the peace talks is to reach solutions for all problems of the Sudan to enable the Sudanese people to address the issues of rehabilitation and development in the country, Al Burhan stressed.
The President of the Transitional Sovereign Council and the accompanying delegation returned home from Juba Monday after participation in the inaugural session of the peace talks between the government and the Sudanese armed struggle movements.
Al Burhan was received upon arrival at Khartoum Airport by Member of the Transitional Sovereign Council Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Jabir.
Director of the Information Department at the Presidency Brig. Dr. Al Tahir Abu Haja said in a press statement that the peace negotiations in Juba come within a new vision emanating from the spirit and principles of the Sudanese Revolution.
