CAR’ Factions Arrived Khartoum for Negotiations


A number of Central African Republic (CAR) factions have arrived Khartoum to participate in the round of negotiations with the Bangui government, which will hosted by Khartoum in Thursday.

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry has completed all arrangements for the start of the  negotiations under the auspices of the African Union (AU).

In a statement to SMC, a source familiar with the Foreign Ministry disclosed the participation of the United Nations, France and Russia in the talks, indicating that the negotiations would be launched in preparation for signing a preliminary agreement between the CAR’ parties on security arrangements, governance, power sharing, reintegration and demobilization of armed factions in a regular forces.

The source pointed out that the efforts of Sudan comes within the framework of activating the AU initiative for peace and reconciliation in CAR, which began in 2011, expressing hope that the success of the Khartoum negotiations will bring peace and stability in CAR.
