The Sudanese Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Kamal Abdul-Maarouf Al-Mahi, affirmed Sudan’s keenness to develop its relations with Russia and to move forward in building strategic partnerships that would serve the interests of the two countries.
During the meeting with the Russian ambassador to Khartoum, Vladimir Geltov, in the presence of the Russian military attaché, Brigadier General Vladimir Hirsimenko, Al-Mahi praised the Russian positions in support of Sudan in international forums and its estimated contribution to efforts to bring peace and stability in Sudan through economic and military assistance.
For his part, the Russian ambassador expressed his optimism about the future relations between Sudan and Russia, describing it as promising. He said that Sudan is an important country on the African continent and an old friend of Russia, which is keen to develop relations with him in all fields,
Geltov expressed his country’s readiness to provide any assistance that would strengthen these relations and build economic, political and military partnerships.
