Sudan participate in the meetings of the member states signed the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition and Use of Mines in Geneva.
The meeting started on Monday.
The secretary-general of the Ministry of Defense, Jamal Mohammed Ibrahim and the Director-General of the National Mine Action Center (NMAC), Amer Abdul Sadeq Abu Zeid have represented Sudan at the meetings.
Speaking to SMC, Abdul Sadeq said the meeting will consider the request submitted by Sudan to extend its period in the mine action program due to the remaining work in the dangerous areas, as well as the weak information in some areas.
The meeting will be addressed by the Permanent Representative of Sudan to the United Nations at Geneva, Mustafa Osman Ismail.
He indicated that the meetings will continue until the 30th of this month.
He explained that Sudan will present during the meetings a presentation of the progress made in this regard.
