IGAD Support DDR’s Peace-building Projects


The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) promised to support Sudan’s Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Commission’s projects, particularly the projects related to security, stability and peace-building for war-affected communities.

In statement to SMC, Salah al-Tayeb, DDR Commissioner-General, said after meeting with the Director of the IGAD office in Sudan and South Sudan, Ambassador Abu Zaid al-Hassan that the meeting discussed the joint projects between the DDR and IGAD departments.

He  stressed that the agreement on concerted efforts and reflection on supporting IGAD for DDR projects and strengthening cooperation, especially in light of DDR  participation in regional events organized by IGAD.

He disclosed on arrangements for a joint meeting between the DDR and the technical departments of IGAD.
