The Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Emad Mustafa Adawi, on Sunday received US Charge D’Affaires to the Sudan Steven Kostis and the US Military Attaché Jordan Bong.
The meeting discussed the ongoing arrangements for the coming visit of the second commander of the AFRICOM forces to the Sudan, this month, and ways of boosting and cementing bilateral relations in the military domains as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
The meeting further discussed ways to enhance relations between the two countries in the military field, as well as a number of issues of common interest
Sudan last April, participated for the first time in the meeting of AFRICOM chiefs of general staff in Stuttgart, Germany.
The unit of combat forces run by the US Department of Defence is responsible for military operations and military relations with 53 African nations. Following the announcement of the planned lifting of US sanctions, Sudan has been reconsidered as worthy for participating in its meetings, said Shami.
