PISQ celebrates Independence Day of Sudan

Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) students celebrated the Independence Day of Sudan on January 1 to show their solidarity with Sudanese students. A special Morning Assembly was arranged in Senior Girls Wing which was attended by Vice Principal, Afshan Shahid, faculty and an assembly of students. The festive event was organized and conducted by the team of iEARN Qatar Project ‘Get to Know Others’ comprising seven different nationalities.

First, Sudanese flag was unfurled in front of assembly. Thereafter, students from different nationalities presented their research regarding the Independence Day of Sudan, history of Sudan, different aspects of Sudanese culture i.e. traditional food and dishes, national and cultural games, cultural festivals and cultural diversity of Sudan.

The highlight of the program was the display of the national costumes and different cultural aspects of Sudan through display of Sudanese items, colorful charts and panaflex. The colourful presentation on history, people, land and diverse culture of the Sudan received much deserved applause from the audience. Students also distributed flyers highlighting culture of Sudan among all present there.

The apex of the celebration was ceremonial cake cutting by Vice Principal, Sudanese’s students and iEARN project in-charge Aftab Hashmi amidst a round of applause from the audience.
