President Al Bashir to Head to Turkey to Attend Emergency OIC Summit


President Omer Al-Bashir, Wednesday received a phone call from the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyeb Erdogan, to participate in the emergency summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul.
Al-Bashir has conveyed to President Erdogan his agreement to take part in the summit which will discuss the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people who have rejected the decision of the US President to move the American Embassy to the occupied Quds.
The State Minister at the Presidency and Director of the President’s Offices, Hatim Hassan, said that President Al-Bashir will leave to Istanbul on Friday to participate in the emergency OIC summit.
The newly-sworn in Foreign Minister will leave to Istanbul before the President of the Republic to participate in the summit’s ministerial council.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan also said on Wednesday that the United Nations had “collapsed” in the face of events in Gaza where Israeli forces killed 60 Palestinian protesters on Monday as the United States relocated its Israel embassy to Jerusalem.

Turkey has been among the most vocal critics of the Israeli use of deadly force against protesters at the Gaza border and of the U.S. decision to open its new embassy in Jerusalem.
