The river navigation unit announced a joint agreement to activate river transport between the Sudan and South Sudan.
Technical and administrative arrangements have already begun.
The head of the unit, Yaseen Mohamed Mahmoud, told the SMC that the river crossing connecting Sudan and South Sudan transfers more than 70% of the cargo and passengers to South Sudan.
He pointed out that the activation of the line preceded negotiations by a request from the officials in South Sudan.
He added, using modern technology aimed at reducing costs and time.
He said that the navigational system was agreed to operate throughout the day after the marking of the navigational guides along the region.
He stressed that the equipment and arrangements will ensure the smooth flow of transport operations between the two countries.
