Sawa group: “the suspension of Sudan’s membership at AU affected on S.Sudan Peace Agreement”


(Sawa) group of South Sudan has demanded the African Union (AU) to suspend Sudan’s membership from the AU due to its impact on the South Sudan Peace Agreement.

Speaking to SMC, the Deputy Spokesman of the Alliance, Stephen Lullal said that Sudan plays an essential role in the implementation of the peace agreement, especially the security arrangements and the training and redeployment of troops, pointing to the role of Sudan in the IGAD system.

He added, Sudan has an influential role in the previous negotiations between the government and the parties to the armed in conflict in south Sudan in concluding the signing of the agreement, revealing significant moves by South Sudan to mediate between the government in Khartoum and the armed movements.
