Senior Sheikh Survived an Assassination Attempt in “Kalma” Camp


A senior official has survived an assassination attempt in “Kalmacamp in the South Darfur state by group of Sudan Liberation Movement- Abdul Wahid (SLM-AW).

Mohammed Abdullah, a third-ranking Sheikh at Kalma camp for displaced persons, told police that a group of Yacoub and Dafri, one of SLM-AW leaders, attacked him at his home and shot him but he managed to escape.

In the same context a number of Kalma camp residents complained that the UNAMID police stalled in arresting any members of SLM-AW despite the massive violations committed by the movement’s against the displaced.
