The Ministry of Minerals has suspended the export of minerals in their raw form, except gold, because the country is losing significant economic resources.
The Minister of Minerals, Dr. Hashim Ali Salem, announced the final halt of the export of minerals to implement the recommendations of the national dialogue.
“We will not export one gram of minerals in its raw form, except gold, which is the only source of hard currency,” he said during a meeting with the Export Promotion Committee.
He said that their plan during the next phase is based on the need to establish a bank for minerals, which will be in free currency because it differs from commercial banks. The bank’s capital is 10 times the size of commercial banks, besides the rehabilitation of the gold refinery.
He added that the minerals sector needs to establish another refinery to accommodate the production of gold, which exceeds 100 tons per year, in addition to the implementation of integrated laboratory programs, which he said it is a red line and must be implemented and be approved at a global level.
