Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will receive his Sudanese counterpart, Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, on November 20.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to strengthen our political dialogue with Sudan and to review the various aspects of our bilateral relations, including in the economic, cultural cooperation, academic and scientific spheres. The two ministers will discuss the process adopted by Khartoum to promote the inclusion of the different Sudanese regions and reconciliation with the opposition groups, as well as the human rights situation in Sudan.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss regional issues and the current positive momentum seen in the Horn of Africa. The two ministers will notably discuss the situation in South Sudan, following the signing of a peace agreement on September 12 in Addis Ababa and the situation in the Central African Republic in the context of the dialogue anticipated in the near future between the government and the armed groups within the framework of the African Initiative.
