Sudan officially announced the participation of the President of the Republic Omar al-Bashir in the African Union (AU) 30th summit, which will be held in Addis Ababa during 22-29 of this month.
Speaking to the SMC the Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gareeballah Al-Khider, said Sudan’s participation in the summit will be led by President Omar al-Bashir, which will be headed to Addis Ababa on 28 and 29 of this month and the summit is expected to witness the nomination of a new president of the African Union succeeding Alfa Kondi.
He adds the meetings of the Ministerial Council will be led by Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Ghandour.
He added that the Sudan is a founding state of the African Union, so it must be involved in all decisions of interest to the African continent, pointing out that Sudan has an important role in enhancing the efforts of the African Union in bringing peace and security to the continent.
On the sidelines of the summit, President al-Bashir is expected to meet a number of African heads of state and secretaries of international and regional organizations to discuss issues of concern to the continent and the political and security situation.
