Sudan Woos Turkish Investors to Mining Industry



Towards efforts to exploit the country’s resources and to diversify the economy, Sudan is urging Turkish Companies to enter the promising mining sector in the resource rich country.

Hozatk Holding company is one of the largest mining companies in the world and also the first at the level of Turkey. They are working in mining, finance, energy and construction.

Minister of Minerals Sudanese Al Sadiq Al Karory during a meeting on Sunday with the Turkish company director Hassan Penjor said the  company can choose to invest or finance projects.  There are  more than 30 minerals that we can invest in.

According to statements attributed to the Minister of Minerals in newspapers in Khartoum on Monday, the projects presented by the Sudanese side include “Iron areas, cement, minerals agriculture, integrated labs, next entry enter into a partnership with the Sudanese government to develop the Arbib Mining Company.

After having owned only 56 percent of the company, the government in 2015 acquired the remaining shares under the Kemnor company owned by Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris.

The Minister of Minerals has revealed in previous statements about “monitoring the  USD 500 million for the development of projects and increasing production in the company.”

Sudan moved to legalize so-called citizen mining through the establishment of stocks to buy gold through the Central Bank of Sudan, as well as other procedures for export abroad.
