Khartoum to Host CAR’ Peace Negotiations this Month


Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the resumption of peace negotiations between the parties to the conflict in Central African Republic (CAR).

Khartoum will host on 24th of this month peace negotiations between the Christian anti-Balaka militia and Muslim Seleka armed faction.

Speaking to SMC, Ambassador Mohammed Yousef, the director of CAR Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the upcoming round of negotiations would be under the supervision of the African Union and with the participation of the United Nations and the international community.

He stressed Sudan has intensified its efforts to reach rapprochement between the parties in consultation with the African Union to achieve a comprehensive peace in CAR.

Khartoum had participated in the high-level meeting on the peace process in CAR, which took place on 8-9 January in Bangui, during which the new round of negotiations decided to be host by Khartoum.
