Trial of toppled president set for next week


The Attorney-General announced, Saturday, the trial of ousted President Omar al-Bashir on charges of possession of foreign currency and illicit wealth, will be held next week.

He said in a press conference in the public prosecutor’s office in Khartoum that the investigation in the case had been completed, the charge had been brought and the suit would be brought before trial after the legal period of seven days.

In the case of teacher, Ahmed Al-Khair, who was killed in Khashm al-Qirba, the Attorney-General said that the investigations are progressing well and the witnesses and interrogator were questioned in Kassala and Khashm al-Qirba.

On the corruption, the Attorney-General pointed out that all the cases have been moved and that 41 of the former regime’s officers have opened their reports for violations of Article 5-6 of the law of wealth, most of which is in the field of land and that in the next few days will complete the procedures of arrest and investigation.
